hey 
I was aiming to get 45/50 in hom a few months ago but was hacked

I lost all my cash, equipment and yeh pretty much everything.
now I'm struggling even to get 30/50 in the hom which is depressing.
I need about 5 more points for 30 but would love to get 45. Any help is appreciated, I'm currently struggling to get vabbian so if possible something equivalent to 12 ruby, 12 sapphire would be much appreciated

Hey there, i'm currently trying to get stuff for my HoM. Sadly when i quit playing 3ish years ago i did something much like this so now i have no money and pretty much no equips, which stumps my progress a bit.

Honestly, i'd like to just ask for a ridiculous amount like 100e, but i can't do that because that's not really like me. I think 69e would be fun, because i like the number yada yada. I'll be happy if i get anything at all though.

I'll be using the ectos mostly to buy prestige armour sets and weapons because i have materials coming out my ears. I think if i get any my first purchases will be weapons and shields for speedclears in either UW or FoW so i can generate my own money (seeing how my favourite farm spot got nerfed

).

Edit: So.. I read through the thread, and then i read TheGizzy's post, and now i feel greedy as hell. I'll sleep on it and think of an amount i'd actually deserve.

Edit2: I've given it a lot of thought, and i've decided that rather than trying to leech off your generosity, i'd if possible would much rather have some of your knowhow.

You see, i've never been good at making money, and whatever money i do make i either spend way too quickly or give away to friends. Over my hours of playtime i have made i think the equivalent of like 50e, possibly a bit more if i'm overestimating how much they're worth. Most of that i have spent having fun rather than getting useful things (i.e. buying armour sets for friends), so in the end i'm left with one set of prestige armour and some decent weapons, but not much more.
If at all possible, it would be amazing if you could teach me something about making money. Really anything would help. As i've said before i've been trying to get some farm builds together to experiment on my own, but so far i've been stumped by lack of equipment, and mostly people to play with (since i don't want to leave my old guild for nostalgia reasons mostly).

I'm on occasionally, and if you would take some time to chat with me (not even specifically about making money, but anything really) that would be brilliant. As you've said i am sad that the social aspect of guild wars seems to have died down greatly, and i miss having people to chat to when i'm not doing anything (or doing something that i don't particularly need to pay attention to).

Whether you decide to spend time on me or not, i think you're doing a great thing here. If you'll be joining us for GW2, feel free to add me on there if you'd like to chat!

Any generic person would tell you that they are looking to fill their HoM. I have been farming FoWSC for days, and working on learning all the roles to make myself more popular among SC guilds. I really would enjoy just about anything for my Hall of Monuments, but what I really want is a nice set of obsidian armor for my main character. I need a lot more than 50e, but anything helps. I would really appreciate 10-20e if that would be possible. (To speed up the process of obtaining the armor.)

To extend on what I've said, and elaborate slightly. I learned to play guildwars from a few friends. After starting an elementalist, I soon got nightfall!

(mom bought for me). I was so enthralled that I deleted my elementalist to make room for my dervish. (stupid right?) Well my dervish became a Drok's runner after learning the build and what not, and soon he became a VoS in FoW. Never had I really thought about obsidian armor until I had seen it on a derv. (COOLEST EVER IMO). As a little kid, I offered to buy it off a guy. (as you know you can't trade it lmao.) So I guess that was stupid, and I was banned from Drok's runs in Amer dis 1.

Shortly after that, I was learning to farm destroyer cores, and spend days doing it. Now I make my money with the occasional UWSC, and FoWSC, but I can't seem to do them for hours on end. (I get tired of people getting so angry.) So I became a ATFH runner on my sin. (105 health for the win?) I guess what I'm saying is that I'm an experienced player that never really did understand how to get and save money. Now I want a Margonite EL tonic, but it's too late for that. (They're 80e, I have 15. <- FAIL) so I am working to fill my HoM with most armor, and at least a set of destroyer weapons. Guess a head-start would be nice.

As for my friend, he has been writhing in his sleep about obsidian armor and I think it would be awesome if I got it before him. (since he plays 4-5x a week, that most likely wont happen.) I would appreciate anything I guess, but I hope for a friend in guild wars 2. :]

Love what you're doing, Luke!

I've been enjoying GW for the past few months. I purchased the game about 18 months ago, got into it for a while, but then had an international move, job change and a baby (!)... I'm not one to let the game trump RL stresses and duties, so I put it aside, and probably would not have gotten back to it if it had not been for the hype building around GW2. That got me interested in eventually playing the sequel (not until I can upgrade the compu), so I thought I'd brush off my GW account and dive in again when time permits.

My goals here are to fairly simple: finish each of the main campaigns, shoot for the "protector" title for each (I like the ring of it, and they, along with the "hero of" titles seem fairly achievable), pocket a few HoM points where I can (devotion and fellowship are the likeliest candidates since I play a ranger and lucked out with a rare 1st year birthday gift), and try to meet other players along the way for some laid back fun. Beyond those goals, my /hope/, is that I can outfit my character with a set of oppressor bows (long and short) and spear (I like a spear-based beastmaster build), and a set of Vabbian armor. I know that getting three weapons of the same type (oppressor, destroyer, tormented) is not "optimal" in terms of HoM points, but I love the look of the oppressor weapons and of the Vabbian armor, and the HoM points are secondary for me.

I don't have time to farm and grind for the wealth to get these items, so I have never looking into how much it would cost in terms of gold. I always though it would be completely unachievable, so I haven't spent time figuring out the currency conversion for the required materials. I /do/ know that attaining those items would cost 30 Medals of Honor (not sure if those are even traded), 16 rubies, and 16 sapphires. I hope to earn some of that through gameplay, but I'm not sure how much is realistic (I'm still playing my first run through). Bottom line, I'd be grateful if you could help me along the way, but how much help would be required, I'm not sure. If you have a sense for that, and feel it is worthwhile, then I'd be very grateful for the helping hand!

See, dual reduction shields have always had a place in my heart for a few reasons. The first is that there is a finite amount of them in the game. I always wished I could be a nerfed item collector (never quite had the funds or economic savvy) because of my appreciation for the items. Whenever I see an item like a -2/-2 shield, or a q7 max sword, the treasure hunter inside of me wants it. It isn't even the monetary value attached to it that appeals to me, it's the fact that the item represents a piece of Guild Wars history that will never be reintroduced. Your shield is a beauty and should get the respect that it deserves! And, if you pick me to give it to, I'll promise you that it will stay with me until the servers go down (or hackers steal it, but whatever :P) Please consider me ^^

Hello! I've been playing Guild Wars for quite a while (66 months!) and I've managed to rack up 28/30 in the HoM calculator. I'm so close to 30 that I only need a destroyer weapon and a few more hero armors.

I'm not going to pretend that my schedule is hectic because it's not. I probably have at least 3 or 4 free hours every night that I could be spending on Guild Wars. My problem is that I have played Guild Wars so much that I can't stand to do the same thing anymore (farming, vanquishing, Jade Quarry, repeat). Not to mention the DISTRACTIONS! *Looks over to his Game of Thrones book with disgust*

I hope that you would consider giving me anywhere between 17-25e so that I could finish off my There-and-back-again-a-hobbits-tale-by-Bilbo-Baggins-worthy HoM adventure and happily anticipate GW2.

Hello there Luke,

First of all, I just wanted to thank you for redistributing the wealth, even if I'm not included. It's a very noble thing to do.

I've been playing Guild Wars for about 7 years. My dad was one of the first people to preorder and told me and my brother "hey, check this game out" and I have been addicted ever since.

As much as I love this game, I'm not very good at it. And when other players notice this, they claim I'm so terrible because I'm a girl. It may be stupid GW bullying, but it still sucks. The only reason I have some of the things I have in my HoM is because of favors from friends who have quit the game. I'd much rather still be playing with them than have my stuff.

Anyway, with Guild Wars 2's release date slowly crawling closer, I've been trying to motivate myself to get 50/50. But I just don't have the resources to get there. I've spent all my money on runs and gambling on strongboxes for the chance at a high-end mini. So I'll ask for 40e, to get me on the right track.

I've been playing GW1 since beta, and put in about 5000 hours over two accounts. Unfortunately, though I'm half decent at the game, I don't think there's another part of my life in which I am so downright unlucky.

I've tried farming, I've tried doing runs of elite areas, etc., but no matter how hard I try, it seems I just can't find any money. Just about everything I've put into my HoM I've earned myself simply because I can never find the money to buy anything. I think the most I've ever held in my storage is the equivalent of 200k (which was pumped pretty quickly into Vabbian armor...).

And so I ask for 40e. I've been looking forward to GW2 for years now, and I probably won't have time for GW1 once it comes out. In the meantime, however, I'm doing my best to pull together some money to get a handful more points in my HoM.

I would like to buy an Armbrace and save myself from the nightmare lands of DOA!!

I've only been playing GW1 for a couple of months after SWTOR failed to hit the spot and thought I would pass the time till GW2, I tried GW a few years back and didn't like it, which was probably more to do with my PC at the time, but now after sinking some stupid hours into the game I've loved it and will probably carry on playing even after the 2nd comes out, granted not as much!

The problem is with getting my last 5 points for HOM it's all pretty much gold/grind and it's gonna be painful one and a donation of 25-30 ectos to buy an armbrace would save me a fair whack of time which would be spent getting other points and would be appreciated greatly!

hello luke. i have been working on my HoM stuff lately. mostly just finishing up the stories and trying to save as much gold as possible so i can buy a destroyer weapon and my kurzick armor. i currently have 20 amber shards saved for my armor and 2 diamonds and around 50k gold. not sure how much i would need or how much you would be willing to donate but anything is appreciated.

Howdude?! Recently I wanted/needed money because I was grinding HoM. But then I decided 15/30 was good enough and I hated how much time it was taking. I'd rather go outside and ride my bike since it's been so nice out. Things like Vabbian armor seemed so outrageously expensive I figured I'd never have enough money. I felt rich when I finally broke 100k, and I never had an ecto (or a high rune lol). The prospect of spending hours in trade chat made me want to vomit!

I don't want money but I like your attitude and approach. I'm sure many will benefit from your... "focused generosity". And good luck with the books!

You were venting/rambling a bit and I felt inspired to do the same hehe! I enjoyed reading people's stories.

Hey Man, I admire what you're doing and think that it's rather incredible. So I'm coming up to 6 years of gameplay, I'm aiming for 35/50, currently at 31/50, however everything I've gotten is through grind, ridiculously hrs of UW farming for ecto for tormented weps, and farming and salvaging for armour material and other weapons. You said that you've done this before, and 1000e is way more then what I'd ever dream of being able to make (Yet you've done this multiple times), so what I'm asking for is not so much your material wealth, but your wealth in knowledge of how to do this. I don't really like begging for stuff, but I do enjoy earning it myself, if you'd be kind as to explain how to me your methodology about going from nothing to everything, I'd appreciate that a lot.

Been playing GW for 5 years now. I'm studying graphic art, college is taking huge amounts of my time. I get to play couple of hours a week, and i really enjoy this game, i mean, after 5 years, i thought I would get bored. But i love it, mostly from art aspect, that's why i started it in first place...
So, why do I need money...To finish my HoM, becouse i will be playing GW2, and would like to get 45/50 (Couse, "Legends of the Mists" sounds just too good ^^ ) Problem is, I need a lot of cash to fill that last 5 points. Still need FoW armor, and like 10 weapons (which is imposible for me to get, becouse I suck at farming and don't really have all that time to spend doing it).
So, really, 20e, 30e, 50e, heck even couple of platinum would be would be a huge help.
So, if you think you could throw some at my direction, i would be truly grateful ^^

Whatever you choose to decide, I just want to say it's a great thing helping like this.

My name is Max, and I played Guild Wars when I was 14-15 years, and I started to play for my HoM when I saw that all my friends would buy the game.

They all ahead of me but I can't reckon on them for my HoM cause they've stopped long ago and gave all their fortune .... Of course, I was not playing during this period.....

But now there is the HoM, I don't really know what to do without any help : I managed to collect 50 k by myself but it's far from enough to get to 30 points.

Now I have 17 points but I can not get more ...I work hard to get more but I really need money for weapons, for minipets, and armor, and now I only have 17 k. I haven't Factions so I can't count much on the monument of honor (I can only have 6 titles easily).

Anyway, maybe I don't deserve your bounty on my total game time, (I could't spend too much time in the game due to a lot of factors including ... sharing the computer with my sister and my little brother ^ ^ ...) but I'd have a chance to reach 30 points by buying some armor and weapons for the HoM! = D Maybe I need a lot, but how about 40-50e? It would be so cool and helpful

If possible I would like to have enough to purchase vabbian armor which is like 320k so thats like 50 ectos I suppose?
